The main focus of the 'Animation and Game Design' course is to place children in the roles of producers rather than consumers of games. We use Macromedia's Director ® authoring software, as it incorporates multimedia, animation, and programming skills. The program is divided into two parts. The first part introduces multimedia and animation using Director's ® pre-built tools, and the second part focuses mainly on programming skills intended to increase the level of sophistication in students' games. Students concentrate on the various aspects of Director and Lingo, by developing multimedia projects - ranging from simple to complex - and creating games for web delivery. Students develop authoring and scripting skills in Director ®, through simple exercises that prepare them to create an entire project. Projects will increase in complexity as students' expertise grows. In order to prepare the necessary media for their animations and games, students will use sound, graphics, and video-capture editing tools like: Adobe Photoshop®, Corel's Painter 8 ®, Adobe Premiere ®, Macromedia's Flash ®, etc…
